“Copyright To Preserve Our Art of Sign Language”
Updated: 6/20/2015- 3rd Reader’s Disclaimer: I am not a legal expert, for further inquiries about how to register for the U.S. Copyright Office License and please consult with your attorney.
As a resourceful teacher, it is my duty to be a legally resourceful to protect my creations and educate others. I am a solo author, officially proclaimed as “ASL MacGyver” stated the Certification of Registration under the U.S. Copyright Office. With an ongoing effort, I learn more about how to protect my creative work and in pursuit to have a full sight of the copyright laws. This applies to both electronically and physical environments in a nature of my creations.
A figure below this page shows the C.C. banner, “Attribution, Non Commercial, and No Derivative Works”, this is to inform you that you can use materials under “fair use” along with the U.S. Copyright Act, myself as an author, I grant you specifically for accredited educational institutions as long you credit or ask for the permission. Other than this, don’t profit a cent from it, name it as yours and don’t change it at all. Just ask me, this is why I am here to help and email is preferred. It will also serve you as a recipient of my written permission and rest assured.
Clarification of the common misunderstandings between Education and Business places – “Fair use” does not apply to any private business/non-profit or for-profit organization/freelancer tutoring services that make a profit off published/copyright materials beyond the classroom or academic settings. A helpful information about “Fair use” provided by Cornell University Law School: (link).
Aside the legal sides of the Licensed Creative Common and U.S. Copyright Office, the first focus should be a respect for intellectual property and people’s creative contributions. There is a store where you can find some cool ASL educational products I designed at affordable price in mind for teachers like you (link). Your love for the language and to teach are the drive for my hard-work creations.
