Hello, my name is Federico Quintana. I am a Deaf educator specializing in American Sign Language (ASL) pedagogy. As ASL is my first language, I am committed to designing and delivering high-quality teaching materials that keep students engaged in their ASL lessons.

My journey began as a Deaf educator and high school sign language teacher, a path that reflects the experiences of many Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals who are often overlooked in our already disparity-filled society. One of the significant challenges I've faced is the communication barrier, which has impacted my financial stability and quality of life.

During my time as a doctoral student in organizational leadership, I was the only Deaf student in the program, relying on interpreters and other accommodations. This experience highlighted the absence of Deaf leaders in the business world—few, if any, Deaf individuals have achieved the level of leadership found among those in educational institutions or entertainment industries.

Despite these obstacles, I have continually pushed beyond limitations in my professional life, pursuing my entrepreneurial dreams without ever hearing a sound. Being Deaf has not hindered my success in the arts or in teaching ASL, which is the third most used language in the United States, after English and Spanish.

I have successfully combined my passions for art and pedagogy into a thriving business, selling teacher-made materials and resources on TeachersPayTeachers.com. I have also developed high-quality online ASL courses, which have become some of the best-selling digital products, appreciated by thousands of educators and customers worldwide. Though I have faced painful failures, I continue to learn and grow, and I am grateful for the knowledge and experience I have gained in leadership. I envision a future where my work positively impacts countless people by expanding productive labor forces and public services.

This journey has taught me to overcome the fears associated with becoming a full-time Deaf entrepreneur. I took the initial step to launch a start-up, The Deaf Company LLC, which now operates multiple subsidiaries, invests in various research and development projects, and provides high-quality workshops and training activities. We continue to expand our business by selling a range of culturally-themed goods, including ASL/signed logos, and digital educational products through an accredited e-commerce online store. The journey continues.
